Open Class 5:30pm / 6:30pm
Athena Class 3:30PM
This weekend marked the 42nd annual Harlan Carter high school basketball tournament and our Performance Quest Athletes flourished in the spotlight. The Foothill Boys Basketball Team took the championship title over Enterprise in a gruelling contest that ended with a score of 47-44. Foothill had two players, Josh Smith and Dalton Kelly, selected to the all-tournament team and also saw their own Gabe Porter take home MVP honors.
Shasta High School placed 4th this weekend missing the championship game by only 3 points and barely a fraction of an inch as their buzzer-beater tying attempt bounced off the inside of the back iron. Sophomore guard, Wade Gulden, had a brilliant weekend and was the only Shasta High player selected to the all-tournament team.
At the JV level the Foothill boys team came up short to West Valley in the championship game by only two points. This was a very strong showing for the young Foothill team who moved up 5 freshman to the team and started 3. Beau Hamilton is one of those freshyman who turned in a strong performance and had a great weekend on the hardwood.
Furthermore, Enterprise's JV team ended the weekend with the consolation trophy, thanks in part to the efforts of Performance Quest's Cole Keener and CrossFit Redding's Brian Hague.
Foothill's Brett Cloney (Sophomore - 10) elevates for a shot over the defense.
Brian Troncale (Junior - 12) looks past the Ashland defense in game 1 of the Harlan Carter.
Eli Putnam (Junior - 30) and Dalton Kelly (Senior - 32) trap the ball handler.
Gabe Porter (Senior - 15) sets the offense for the Cougars.
Jeremy Samples (Senior - 21) goes up for a layup over the defender.
Shasta guard, Wade Gulden (Sophomore), reverses the ball against the Eureka defense.
