Athena Class 3:30pm

What another great weekend for Performance Quest athletes.

Foothill High School travelled to the Bay Area this weekend and brought the championship home beating host Drake High School 47-45 in the final match up of the Red Brown Invitational. Point guard Josh Smith was named tournament MVP and teammates Gabe Porter and Eli Putnam earned all-tournament selection honors. The 6-0 Cougars will travel down to the Sacramento High School St. Hope Elite Hoops Classic this week to try and extend their unbeaten record.

The Shasta High School boys basketball team stayed local this weekend and the result was 71-65 overtime championship title from the Lehigh Classic at Central Valley High School. Starting sophomore guard, Wade Gulden, played brilliantly this weekend and was flawless in the decisive overtime victory finishing with 16 points, 10 rebounds, and a steal. According to the Redding Record Searchlight, "At the end of the day for the Wolves the Lehigh championship credit was due to Gulden as much as anyone else." Shasta head coach, Bill Calloway, is quoted as saying, "He steps up. He's a big time player. We're looking for a lot of good things from Gulden in the future."
